High (on being) Five!

I woke up this morning, got in the shower, and put my robe on. I went into the kitchen to turn on the coffee and was about to wake Reagan up by singing "Happy Birthday to You". I glanced in the living room and Reagan was sitting on the couch watching cartoons with her handmade birthday card in hand. I said, "Good Morning birthday girl!  I was going to get you up to tell you HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" She gave a big smile. I said, "Did you see your poster and streamers and card?" She said "Yes! I forgot it was my birthday!"

Then she followed me in the the kitchen and said, "I didn't forget it was my birthday, I was just too excited!" Ha ha. She pointed to her feet and said, "Are my feet bigger? Am I taller?" I told her they just might be, but that it wouldn't happen overnight. She said, "Hmm, maybe when I'm 10!"

Happy Birthday to our sweet Reagan! We love you to the moon and back!

I'm baaaack!

Wow! It's been ages since my last blog post. I guess we've been so busy at work and at home, I haven't had time to think about it!

Anyhoo-here's a pic of my sweet Reagan, trick-or-treating at my office for Halloween. She went as Alice in Wonderland this year and looked adorable!

Hugs

I was showing Reagan baby pictures of her and her sister last night and Reagan was trying to get my attention. Finally she said, "Hey mommy, can you please put your phone down and give me a hug?" I put it down right then and gave her a BIG hug.

I'm still Alive

Wow, it's been over a month since I had a blog post. I guess I have been busy planning our Hilton Head trip and our Disney vacation and also have been busy with the upcoming Kids Market consignment sale.

I've been busy taking Reagan to dance also. Another thing is I've been working on planning Jennifer's 40th birthday party too. Fall is always an overly busy time! I hope we will slow down after this weekend since I have no big plans until Disney at the end of October!

Potato Head Stylist

Reagan wanted to play with the potato heads I bought at Kids Market and Mom years ago. She hasn't played with them much so I tried to sell them at the last Kids Market, but she begged me to keep them. I told her okay, and we put them back in the toybox.

She got them out recently and dressed them up....JUST like the package. I couldn't believe her attention to detail!  She dressed the potato heads up exactly like the ones on the case!  Smart gal.

My Precious Reagan

Reagan and I were having our bedtime talks as I was tucking her into bed. She told me a cute story. Then asked if she could give me a hug. I said "Yes! Always!"

We hugged and hugged as I told her, "You're growing up too fast! Pretty soon you'll be grown up and leaving me."

She then asked, "Why am I going to leave?"

I told her, "Because, you will be going to college and you'll learn to be a doctor, or teacher or painter or dancer...what do you want to be?"

Her eyes filled up with tears and she pointed to me. I said, "What, you want to be a mommy?"

She said, "I don't want to leave you mommy!"

I know her feelings will change some day, but for now it makes me happy that she cares so much for me and doesn't want to live anywhere else! :)

Migraines!!!

I have migraines. Intense migraines. Almost every day for the past few weeks. The doctor prescribed me a pain med that isn't helping at all.

Therefore, here are my remaining options:

Option #1-Take preventative medicine (Depakote ER) prescribed by the neurologist and risk having these side effects:

Some common side effects of Depakote include nausea, tremor, hair loss, weight gain, increased appetite, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, diarrhea, blurry vision, coordination problems, double vision, sleepiness, weakness, vomiting, loss of appetite, or walking problems.

Option #2-Try natural methods, such as massage (costly), or see a chiropractor and risk injuries such as these:

Option #3- "Chase" the migraines with over-the-counter drugs or painkillers, which will eventually cause rebound headaches.

Since I am my daughters' primary caregiver, I am limited on what methods I can try. So........what is my best option?

No standing in the tub!

I was giving Miss C a bath last night and turned around to grab a towel. When I turned back around, Caroline was pulling herself up on the side of the tub!

It was too funny, but I had to tell her she can't do that since she might fall and slip. But I still had to snap a picture first! Silly girl!

Gigi's cupcakes

We endulged in Gigi's cupcakes yesterday for Caroline's birthday and they were DIVINE! I had a groupon for a dozen minis, so it was a great time to cash it in.

We lit a candle for her own little cupcake and sang "Happy Birthday to You" to her.  Reagan was there beside Caroline, ready to help blow out the candle, but Caroline scooted closer, reached out her arm, and snuffed the candle out with her hand. It didn't faze her one bit! My tough gal!

Happy Birthday Caroline!

This morning, Reagan and I snuck into Caroline's room and said "Caaaarrrroooline" and she immediately rolled over and got up to see us and smiled. :) Sweet girl. We sang happy birthday to her in her crib and she was in such a good mood while she played with the crib mobile.

After her bottle, I surprised her with a cupcake shaped pancake. She immediately got into that! She loves pancakes. Just like her big sister! Then we opened up a couple of gifts (her one year old figurine and an octopus bubble blower) and took a few pictures.

I sent strawberry mini cupcakes to school for her celebration, though I don't think the little ones will eat them. :) BUT-I'm picking up Gigi's mini cupcakes today so that we can celebrate tonight and miss Caroline will definitely get to partake!

It is hard to believe that ONE full year ago, at 10:59 a.m., our sweet little Caroline came into the world and she has brightened our day ever since! God gave us two beautiful girls to raise and we are so blessed and could not imagine life without either of them!

Party Gal

Miss Caroline has been quite the party gal lately. She's attended a birthday party for her cousin Thomas, a ballet recital party, and a baby shower. But that wasn't enough! She just had to get in on the action of a baby shower at my office!

Friday, our company was throwing a shower for our COO's first grandson's arrival. Well, it just so happened that the girls' daycare had to close Friday due to power outage from the storms. I decided to bring Caroline in to work with me for half a day and was she ever the belle of the ball! Everyone passed her around and was amazed at how good she was being. They all said she was just the best little girl. And she had not even had a nap all day at that point!

I think she had fun and now she's ready for the BIGGEST celebration......her very FIRST birthday party!

The Baby Shower upset

Reagan had been asking about the baby shower for days and days!....."Wheeennn iss the baby showwer gonna be heerrre?" "Why is the baby shower taking so long?" and more so as it got closer to the party day.
The night before the party, Gramma and Reagan were talking about the excitement of the party and Reagan said something about meeting the baby and mom responded, "Oh, the baby's not arriving just yet. She's gonna stay in Aunt Jane's belly a little longer."

Mom said, "Uh-oh. she thinks we're meeting the baby tomorrow." I said, "I was afraid of that."

Rain, rain, go away!

Rough storms, lightning, and hail on Keith's job site. The weather in North Dakota must be the least enjoyable anywhere!

My silly Caroline

It's hard to believe that in less than 2 weeks my sweet baby will be 1 year old! We are having so much fun with this little one. This morning I dropped her off at daycare and she immediately swiped another kid's pacifier! She's a mess.

Here are a few things about her.

-She has big, chunky legs
-She scoots, doesn't crawl
-Likes to play with the hall night light
- Has had lots of bang ups. Fell of beds, couches, out of bouncy seat. Can of soup from pantry fell on her. Fell back in bathtub, burnt her hand on the hall night light, but kept reaching for it. She's a tough gal!
-Always wants her fingers in her mouth, but we are getting her used to a pacifier
-She babbles and bangs her legs against the crib mattress when she is ready to get up in the morning
-Likes to do the "bobble head"
-Has a floor dance that is a variation of the bobble
-Slams face into your chest while you are holding her face to face and especially if you say, "Awww!"
-She spins around in a circle
-LOVES bath time and gets everyone soaked with her splashing.
-Says "UH OH!"
-Changes channels on the remote
-Doesn't want to wear a bow in her hair
-Likes to brush her sister, Reagan's hair
-She likes Nilla wafers and crackers
-She giggles with delight when I sprinkle baby powder on her during diaper changes
-She is a very loving, sharing and sweet little girl

My Little Ballerina

I had a blast planning a reception for friends and family after Reagan's first ballet recital. I used my old ballet, tap, pointe, and jazz shoes as some of the decor. I also hung Reagan's tutus and my tutu I danced in as a young girl. It was a sweet way to celebrate the special day.

Like Father, like Daughter

Yesterday, I picked the girls up from school and we headed home. Just like every week day. Except this time Caroline had a surprise waiting for me when we got home. A big surprise.

Caroline had been playing with the block-shaped keychain I let her have since she likes to chew on it so much. I heard her getting fussy so I thought she might have dropped the keychain. She seemed happier and started making cheerful sounds so I thought she must have reached the keychain.

We arrived at the house, I parked the car in the driveway and I let Reagan out. I walked around to Caroline's side and opened the door. I was confused because she had what looked like green peas on her face. She gave me a look like, "What? What did I do?" Then I noticed IT. IT was on her face, the keychain, the carseat carrier buckle, the carrier cloth belt, her clothing, and her legs. Poo. Green smeared poo.

Her father played this "game" when he was a toddler, except he smeared the poo all over walls and a spindle crib.

I said, "OHhhhh Caroline! What did you do?!?" I have a feeling we can look forward to fun times ahead with this one.

Keith in Detroit

Keith sent me a photo of the airport tunnel in Detroit, Michigan. He said it changes colors with different music! Psychedelic!

Daddy's Home!

We were excited that Keith was able to come home for Mother's Day and Caroline's dedication at the church. It was only for a day, but we were still excited. We colored a sign and waited at the airport....the girls wore their pajamas! Here are a few pictures from the "pick up".

Wrapping up the job....

The North Dakota job is finally wrapping up. Not too much longer!!!

Reagan the Bookworm

Reagan loves to read books. Not just at bed time, but any time of day. But sometimes I'm unsure where she comes up with things.

Saturday night she picked up her pink prayers book and said, "Oh, let's read this one. It's a classic!" I said, "What do you know about classics?" I still don't know where she heard that! Hilarious.

Boys at school

This morning on the way to school I asked Reagan whose dad it was that always plays basketball in the gym with the kids. He's puts all of the bouncy balls in the basket, then tosses the basketball up to make them all fall at once. The kids love it. Here's how the conversation went.

Reagan-That's Austin's dad
Me-Well, that's sweet of him to play ball with you all. Is Austin your friend?
Reagan-No, I try to get him to play with me, but he just likes boys.
Me-Oh, he's not your boyfriend?
Reagan-Nooo! I'm Ty's girlfriend.
Me-Oh? Do you hold hands?
Reagan-No, we just play ball. I hope Ty is here today!

I told Keith about Reagan having a boyfriend and quickly got a response:
"And how do you know this? Do we need to have the talk with her? Hehe."

Party fun

Baby Shower sneak peek!!! How cute are these?!? I just glued a few up and couldn't help but post!

Chocolate Lover

The Easter bunny brought Reagan a large hollow chocolate bunny and Reagan has been eating that bunny little by little over the past few weeks. She finally got down to the last piece last night. I left her to finish him off while I got Caroline in the tub.

About 5 minutes later, I heard a light knocking on the door. This wasn't her normal, hard knock, though. I opened the door to see Reagan knocking with the back of her hand. She had to do this because she was covered. In chocolate. And a big smile. We do love our chocolate in the Mosley household!
