Migraines!!!

I have migraines. Intense migraines. Almost every day for the past few weeks. The doctor prescribed me a pain med that isn't helping at all.

Therefore, here are my remaining options:

Option #1-Take preventative medicine (Depakote ER) prescribed by the neurologist and risk having these side effects:

Some common side effects of Depakote include nausea, tremor, hair loss, weight gain, increased appetite, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, diarrhea, blurry vision, coordination problems, double vision, sleepiness, weakness, vomiting, loss of appetite, or walking problems.

Option #2-Try natural methods, such as massage (costly), or see a chiropractor and risk injuries such as these:

Option #3- "Chase" the migraines with over-the-counter drugs or painkillers, which will eventually cause rebound headaches.

Since I am my daughters' primary caregiver, I am limited on what methods I can try. So........what is my best option?

  1. Chiropractor. I'd say the risks are much less likely than the risks of prescription medicine, which are nearly a guarantee. Does insurance not pay for massage for migraines? Maybe you can check on that.
